Job description
At NOVACARD, we’re redefining how people use credit.
We are the first interest-free and no-annual-fee credit card in Mexico, designed to simplify personal finances and give users complete control – all from a mobile app. With NOVACARD, users can access up to $200,000 MXN in credit, only pay when they use it, and manage everything digitally in under 5 minutes. Our mission is to empower people to make smarter financial decisions by offering flexibility, transparency, and the freedom they need to reach their goals. Simple finances, big goals.
About the Role
We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to own the quality of key user scenarios across the stack. In this role, you will do more than write autotests — you will build a reliable automation system that covers everything from a customer action in the Flutter mobile app to data validation in APIs, message queues, and databases.
You will work closely with developers, analysts, DevOps, and other QA engineers to ensure delivery speed and reliability of financial services. We expect an engineer who sees risks in a microservices architecture and prevents them with well-designed automated coverage. The role is fully remote, with occasional business trips if required.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and evolve UI autotests for the Flutter mobile application (Android/iOS) using Python and Appium.
Design the automation framework architecture: implement and maintain Page Object patterns, business step layers, fixtures, and environment configurations.
Work with Flutter app locators: use Semantics labels and accessibility IDs, and align their implementation with mobile developers to improve test stability.
Ensure autotest suite stability: diagnose and eliminate flaky tests, manage waits, and configure test isolation.
Configure and maintain Allure reporting: steps, attachments such as screenshots, logs, and traffic, run history analysis, and linking autotests to test cases.
Integrate autotests into CI/CD using GitLab CI: run pipelines, set up parallel runs on emulators and real devices, and maintain acceptable execution time.
Analyze new functionality, participate in requirements review, and create test designs.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
Test external and internal integrations, including SOAP/REST APIs, XML/JSON processing, authorization, contracts, and service interaction errors.
Analyze asynchronous processes: message queues and event buses such as Kafka and RabbitMQ, consumers, retries, idempotency, and delayed effects.
Identify cross-team dependencies during task definition and align them with related teams before development and testing begin.
Estimate testing and automation effort, maintain and expand the regression test suite.
Analyze run results, report risks, defects, and blockers in a timely manner, and prepare clear quality reporting.
Automate test data preparation: use SQL scripts, internal service APIs, emulation of external system states, and mocks.
Work confidently with databases: write medium-complexity SQL queries with joins and aggregations, validate data after user operations in MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, and access databases from autotest code.
Investigate logs and metrics in monitoring systems such as Kibana, OpenSearch, and Grafana, and trace requests across services using correlation or trace IDs.
Diagnose autotest failures: identify root causes using device logs, traffic, and service logs, and file defects in the tracking system.
Job requirements
Key Requirements
2+ years of experience in mobile UI test automation.
5+ years of experience testing microservice-based applications.
2+ years of experience testing external integrations.
Strong Python skills: OOP, working with libraries, reading and refactoring code, writing utilities and helpers.
Hands-on experience with pytest: fixtures, parametrization, markers, conftest, and plugins.
Practical experience with Appium.
Experience automating Flutter applications or readiness to quickly learn Flutter-specific automation.
Knowledge of Git and experience integrating autotests into CI/CD.
Experience in functional testing of Android and iOS mobile applications.
Excellent knowledge of testing theory and test-design techniques.
Strong understanding of SOAP/REST API testing, XML/JSON, HTTP response codes, contract schemas, session-based and token-based authentication; experience automating API calls in Python using requests or similar libraries.
Confident SQL skills: ability to independently write medium-complexity queries, read database schemas, and validate data in MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
Understanding of asynchronous service communication: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar brokers, consumers, idempotency, retry mechanisms, and delayed event processing.
Experience with logging and monitoring systems such as Kibana, OpenSearch, Grafana, or similar tools.
Ability to independently prepare test data using SQL scripts, internal or service APIs, and emulation of external system states.
Fluent Russian and English at B1+ level, sufficient for technical documentation and an international team.
Experience developing in Dart or reading Flutter app code to understand widget structure and add Semantics keys.
Nice to Have
Experience with device farms such as BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or local device farms, Appium Grid, and parallel execution on device pools.
Experience developing in Dart or reading Flutter app code to understand widget structure and add Semantics keys
Experience with Charles, Fiddler, Swagger, Postman, and SOAP UI, including proxying and mocking responses on devices.
Experience automating the API layer as a separate suite, as well as basic Postman automation and running collections via Newman.
Experience with visual testing and screenshot-based tests.
Experience in fintech or banking products: card processing, credit products, tariffs, fees, limits, card statuses, and card lifecycle management.
Experience testing BPMS processes and workflow engines such as Camunda.
Understanding of financial application security requirements: personal data handling, OTP flows, session management, and basic PCI DSS principles.
Experience setting up test infrastructure: Docker, running emulators in CI, and build caching.
Experience estimating testing tasks and working with QA quality metrics such as DDE, defect density, test coverage, autotest stability, and execution time.
What We Offer
Fully remote work format.
Official employment in accordance with the Russian Labor Code for residents of Russia; contractor collaboration for candidates from other countries.
Opportunity to work in an international team on an innovative digital credit product for the Mexican market.
A product-focused, data-driven environment where quality directly influences the financial experience of thousands of users.
The chance to work on complex mobile, backend, and integration scenarios in a rapidly growing fintech company.
